Political Identity of the European Union. Return of Political?

Abstract
Authors show the creation of political identity as a precondition for the political legitimacy of the European Union. Thus, the article analysis discussions on EU Constitution as well as democratic deficit of the European political institutions which demonstrate the possibility of creating particular sphere of political, potentially even of creating the
European political identity. Authors point at various institutional solutions, ranging from more transparency of existing institutions, strengthening the European subjects rights, to strengthening deliberation, and politization of European citizens as well as creation of civil society, with the aim of forming the political identity of the EU. Authors conclude that creation of the European political identity is based on constant negotiation process of the European political subjects which makes it an open and· transparent process.
