Sažetak
The process of the establishment of the legal protection of rights and position of national minorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina didn't start along with the beginning of the implementation of the Dayton agreement, but much later. Constitutional and legal regulation of minority rights resulted from the international pressure, but also from inconsistent concepts which led to uneven solutions. All of this also resulted in terminological confusion of terms concerning national minorities. All the solutions related to the political system of Bosnia and Herzegovina, including the protection of national minorities, were adopted under the direct influence and pressure of the international community. The fact that the constituents of the constitutional-political
system are peoples (nations), whose relations are characterized with great ethnic distance which has been further deepening, influences the representatives of national minorities, as individuals and as collectives. As the result of war and drastic fall of the protection of human rights, the number of members of national minorities was repeatedly reduced. Those members of national minorities, who decided to stay, are ineffectively and inadequately organized. Complete system of the minority protection in Bosnia and Herzegovina considerably lags behind the international standards.
