Sažetak

Croatia is a country with a rich cultural heritage. Folk costumes, songs and dances can be found in museums, professional literature and through the activities of various cultural and art organisations. At the same time, technology has introduced different new forms of promotion and preservation of folklore content. For example, children in the lower grades of elementary school can listen to traditional children's songs on YouTube, in addition to listening to their teachers in classrooms and learning from their Music Education textbooks. It is the aim of this paper to encourage acquiring knowledge about Croatian folklore with the help of new media as tools and means of education in elementary schools, based on theoretical and practical foundations. The research conducted in this paper concludes that there are various expert articles and papers, as well as instructions on the use of media in teaching, however, at the same time, there are no articles or papers aimed exclusively at connecting teaching, media and folklore. Besides looking back at previous theoretical positions, as well as examples of the use of media in teaching, the author describes her own project carried out in an elementary school in Zagreb, whose aim is to encourage the use of media in cultural education.
