Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has completely changed the picture of the world. One of the branches most affected by the pandemic is the cultural and creative industries. The media market, as an important part of the cultural and creative industries sectors, was not spared this blow. The paper explores how the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the management and operations of electronic media in Croatia on the example of radio broadcasters and how they have adapted to changes in financial, technological and personnel terms, as well as other business segments. The results obtained were compared with data from radio markets from the European Union and surrounding countries. Different market circumstances have created new business models, some of which have been retained as practice. The paper also investigates support measures and the relaxation of legal obligations of state institutions and agencies with which they responded to changes in the business operations of radio broadcasters in Croatia.
