Sažetak

This paper points out the polyvalent character of the crime trilogy composed of the novels Trio about the Archduke (Il trio dell'arciduca, 2014), Sixth Pharaoh (Il sesto faraone, 2016), and On the Wind of the Ocean (Il vento dell'oceano, 2017) by contemporary Italian author Adrian Bon alias Hans Tuzzi (1952). Tuzzi's crime prose is characterized by formulaic expression which provides the basis for the entire world crime fiction. However, by responding to the imperatives of the genre, this acclaimed author of Italian postmodernism simultaneously searches for new ways to articulate in literature postmodernist postulates that, in their own nature, seek to break through the canonically determined boundaries of the genre. Accordingly, the analysis first considers the functionally distinctive features of the crime-genre narrative paradigm applying relevant theoretical frameworks, including Gerard Genette's restrictive narratology. Next, the paper interprets intertextual elements of Tuzzi's narration and the imagological potential of the trilogy, which indicates the multiple importance of choosing a Montenegrin detective Neron Vukčić as its protagonist. This methodology highlights the unquestionable artistic reach of this long-marginalized genre, which, as shown in the case of this trilogy, is not a result of the relativization of the distinctive features of the crime genre but rather arises by virtue of a qualitative-aesthetic shift of the generic boundaries.
