This paper deals with the topic of prosodic features in the expression of emotions in sports transmissions of the 2018 World Cup in Russia. Emotions in speech complement speech and make it more complex. Therefore, the speaker expresses emotion with a certain voice and speech characteristics that can be subjected to objective acoustic measurements and thus a certain emotion is associated with specific acoustic parameters. The speech of sports transmissions was chosen because it is a spontaneous and emotionally engaged speech in which emotions are real, not simulated or provoked. The aim of the research was to compare the obtained results with the results of previous research and to prove coincidences. Acoustic parameters of tone, intensity and tempo of speech were considered for the research. It was analyzed footage of Croatia – Denmark and Croatia – Russia matches and examples of emotions before and after goals scored and conceded were presented. The recordings were analyzed in the Praat program. The results for the speech expressions of fear, anger, and joy matched the acoustic parameters for tone and intensity, while there was a deviation in tempo. Expressions of sadness coincided with the acoustic parameters for tone and tempo, while the second thesis of the research was confirmed with increased intensity, and that is that emotions are more strongly expressed in spontaneous speech.
