Sažetak

Effective post-harvest drying of cereal grains is essential to maintain quality during transportation and storage due to increased grain moisture. Conventional drying methods rely on a controlled flow of heated air to ensure uniform drying and moisture reduction, while innovative drying technologies have also been developed to improve the efficiency and energy efficiency of the entire process. There are different types of innovative drying, the most important of which are described in this paper (microwave, infrared, fluidized bed and high frequency drying). Microwave drying technologies in combination with heated air enable fast and energy-efficient drying. Infrared drying shortens the drying time and improves the quality of the dried grain. Fluidized-bed drying enables large quantities of grain to be dried evenly in a shorter time, while high-frequency drying enables the grain to be refined quickly, evenly and efficiently. Combined drying technologies make it possible to achieve optimum conditions for the drying process. In this paper, the efficiency, advantages and challenges of using the different drying technologies are analyzed and a comparative analysis is carried out. The aim is to provide a comprehensive insight that facilitates the understanding and implementation of said technologies and shows how the developed drying technologies can make a significant contribution to agricultural production to ensure the safety and quality of grain during storage and distribution.
