Abstract

The array of topics pertaining to the humanitarian activities conducted by Krk’s residents during the first half of the 1990s is virtually endless. Besides the activities performed by various humanitarian organizations such as the Red Cross, the Bedem ljubavi/Mothers for Peace movement, the Diocesan Caritas and Caritas branches in individual Catholic parishes, many individuals, thanks to their pre-war acquaintances, took the initiative and organized the gathering and delivery of humanitarian assistance from abroad. Thus, this brief paper contains description of the manner in which the family of Nikola and Anamarija Žuvić from Omišalj and the Italian family of Mercedes and Giuseppe Crepaldi from the Italian town of Taglio di Po organized humanitarian activities during the Homeland War, which continued until early 1996. These activities were simultaneously the beginning of an unbreakable friendship and bridge that has forever united the towns of Omišalj and Taglio di Po.
