Abstract
There is no doubt that good management is crucial for the efficient operation of an organization because it makes human results more productive and provides society with better technology, products and services. It is a key economic resource and vital element of business. This paper provides a detailed insight into the representation of women in top management, both globally and in the context of the Republic of Croatia. The key subject of the paper is the invisible barrier known as the glass ceiling phenomenon, which represents the obstacles women face when advancing to managerial positions. The research of the main objective of the paper was carried out through empirical research using Google forms questionnaire, and the analyzed data was collected in the database, while MS Excel was used for statistical analysis. Arithmetic mean (M) and standard deviation (SD) will be displayed for the statements for which respondents expressed their degree of agreement. The results of the research indicate that the majority of respondents recognize that women are not equally represented in top management and that they face additional challenges when achieving business success. This research points to the need for further studies and an active
approach in solving the issue of gender equality in the business world in order to facilitate the path that women need to go through to get to top management positions and to reduce existing obstacles.
