Sažetak
The aim of this professional paper is to examine and analyze the Croatian beer market on the basis of key market indicators such as production, import, export, and total beer consumption. The largest market leaders in the Croatian beer market are Zagrebačka pivovara (Zagreb Brewery), Heineken Croatia, and Carlsberg Croatia, while the rest of the market is comprised of microbreweries and craft breweries, whose share and employee number are growing. Despite a stable market structure, a total 2023 beer production decreased by 14% if compared to the previous year. In terms of a foreign trade, the 2023 import value was set to increase to €57 million, whereas the 2023 export value was predicted to reach €53 million, with the most important export partners being Bosnia-Herzegovina and Slovenia, while most beer was imported from Slovenia and Germany. In 2023, beer consumption in Croatia dropped to 75 liters per capita, which can be related to the economic pressures, including inflation and higher beer prices. In 2023, a beer-production self-sufficiency level amounted to 101%. Despite the challenges, beer market demonstrates potential for further development through innovation, exports enhancements, and adaptation to the consumer trends.
