Abstract

The aim of this study is to gain a better understanding of how the public can distinguish between political messages written by humans and those generated by artificial intelligence, through a quantitative analysis of a survey conducted on a sample of 580 participants. For the purposes of this study, a survey was conducted from January 30th to March 15th, 2024, with 580 respondents. The survey revealed that the majority of participants are unable to differentiate between a message written by a human and one generated by artificial intelligence. Drawing on narrative theory and the packaging of politics, the authors of the survey open up numerous research questions, emphasizing the importance of transparent and ethical communication and highlighting dehumanization as one of the potential consequences of the new shaping of narratives in political communication through increased use of artificial intelligence.
