Abstract

The article questions the Jagić's contribution to Marulology. It starts from
Bibliografije Marka Marulića. Treći dio: radovi o Maruliću (1565–2000), compiled
by Nedjeljka Paro. Bibliography mentions only two or three (the third is under
the name of A. Leskien) of Jagić's articles, contributions to marulology. On the
contrary, the article tries to show that Jagić's contribution to marulology is important
and disproportionate to the mentioned bibliography. First of all, Jagić's
contribution to the critical editions of Marulić's vernacular works stands out (prior
to the edition of JAZU, except Judita, only Kukuljević had printed Suzana, Razum
and Stumačenje Kata), then to the attribution debates, to which he gave the basic
direction. Furthermore, Jagić's contribution to the study of Marulić's versification
and historical contextualization, as well as the aesthetic judgments of Marulić's
works, is highlighted.
