"This is how we Lived, that's how we Write". The Discourse of Trauma in the Work of Vesna Krmpotić

Abstract
In this paper, we are discussing two works by Vesna Krmpotić, the collection of poems Ljevanica za Igora and the novel-chronicle Brdo iznad oblaka. With the help of quotations from works and insights from secondary literature, which these works were the subject of, we will try to describe the poetics of Vesna Krmpotić᾽s poetic and prose discourses, which share the common motif of the experience of trauma. Although rooted autobiographically and empirically, the traumatic experience in her poetics, both poetry and prose, shares all features with her works that do not have trauma as a theme; our thesis is that her literary process overcame the content and messages of the work. Given that he was overcome by the excellence of the author᾽s poetic and storytelling skills, we will try to prove that it is time to read Vesna Krmpotić universally and aesthetically, and that the definition of autobiography and personal experience does not cover the entire aesthetic function of the two mentioned works. Therefore, our focus will be on the description of poetic features that are common to her poetic and prose writing.
