Sažetak
The author brings forth hitherto unknown data about the Crikvenica settlement Dolac, whose name was derived from the geographical appearance of the terrain on which it is located. He discovered that the settlement was first mentioned as Kokus, at the beginning of the 15th century in the Charter of the Prince of the island of Krk, Nikola the IV. Frankopan, which was issued on the occasion of the establishment of the Pauline Monastery in Crikvenica. The author also finds the name of settlement being Kokus in a Pauline document from the year 1697. when the Paulines from Crikvenica leased some of their land. Additionally, the author associates the term kokus with the Latin term coquus, cook, which is derived from the word coquo, to cook, brew, bake, burn, dry. Therefore, he concludes that the name Kokus is connected with the local ceramic tradition based on the loam deposits in Dolac. In that regard, he emphasizes the connection with the late antique ceramics workshop in Crikvenica at the locality of the Playground as well as with the fact that the local inhabitants of Dolac were engaged in pottery back at the beginning of the 20th century. Further in the article, the author writes about the chapel of the Mother of God of the Seven Sorrows, which was built in Dolac in the year 1814. subsequently expanded in 1928. and restored in the year 2008.
