Sažetak

The paper analyses the ordering strategies of Antonio Marcello Petris, distinguished friar of Cres, general of the Order and bishop of Novigrad. Conclusions are
drawn concerning his building projects, which not only followed, but also steered social, economic and urbanistic changes Cres was experiencing at the beginning of the
16th century. The analysis primarily regards the urbanistic and architectural elements
of the style of the so-called Arsan house (in fact Marcello Petris’s house) and the threetrave chapel with his tombstone in the church of St. Francis. All the orders made by
friar Antonio Marcello Petris included elements used to form a specific identity pattern
reflecting both his individual achievements in the ecclesiastic career and certain political opinions. These observations are in the end put in the context of his biographical
data, epitaph and testament, resulting in conclusions regarding the orderer’s notion
and presentation of himself and the city he presented himself to.
