Abstract

This paper explores the impact of Instagram on the identity and self-confidence of young students enrolled in the Communication, Media, and Journalism program at the University of North. The aim of the research is to understand how students create their self-image online and to what extent their online presence influences their perception of beauty and self-esteem. Using a quantitative approach, data was collected through a structured survey with a total of 60 responses received from 143 students. The results indicate a complex relationship between social media usage and self-perception among students. While many participants recognize the influence of Instragram on their identity, a significant portion does not perceive a substantial difference between their real appearance and online representation. Additionally, the findings reveal that students often edit photos and content, suggesting an active effort in shaping their digital identities
