Fragments from the Teaching Work of Antun Radić

Sažetak
The author describes the teaching work of Antun Radić (1868-1919) at the Royal Great Gymnasium of Osijek (1892), the Royal Great Gymnasium of Požega (1893), the Royal Great Gymnasium of Varaždin (1893–1895), and at the Royal Uptown Great Gymnasium of Zagreb on two occasions (1895-1897 and 1917-1919). The article describes his primary and secondary education and his high education that he completed by becoming a doctor of science (1892), as well as the difficulties in his life as a teacher for seven years. His other activities as a scientist and a cultural and political employee are briefly mentioned to illustrate the scope of work and interest and his professional and scientific contribution to the Croatian school system, science, culture and politics. The author underscored the human qualities of Antun Radić on the basis of what his students and contemporaries remembered. Based on his theoretical and practical educational work, Antun Radić takes credit for the establishment of social and ‘’folk’’ pedagogy.
