Abstract

Prof. dr. Gojko Zovko is a retired university professor who lives in Zagreb. His half century’s professional and scientific work has had a visible effect on our educational system. As a teacher, pedagogue and special education pedagogue, he was among the first to realise the role and importance of an interdisciplinary – team approach to education. Acknowledging this kind of approach, especially regarding the persons with special needs, he contributed significantly not only to the advancement of the education of such persons, but also to the creation of the special education theory – special pedagogy. This statement is supported by 150 published scientific and professional articles in both domestic and foreign professional and scientific publications. His professional and scientific work met response abroad, too. With regard to this fact and to numerous and intensive contacts with relevant experts and scientists, and appearances in the country and abroad, a special reference to his creative work seems justified.
