Abstract

In the article the author publishes a part of the correspondence of two teachers from the end of the 18th century – Adam Alojzije Baričević and Abraham Jakov Penzel, which is kept in the Archives of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts. Chosen parts are related to education system and coin collecting and are from the time when Adam Alojzije Baričević was permanent teacher of Main Comprehensive School in Zagreb (1784 – 1790) and Abraham Jakov Penzel a secondary school teacher of poetry in Ljubljana (1793 – 1798). With the insight into teachers’ biographies and representation of education reform in Croatia in 1776 we can get information on teachers’ education and education system in the 18th century.
