Abstract
A textbook as a basic school book was based on curriculum and syllabus and is used daily. Therefore it is very important to structure it in a way to make education and self-education of its user more rational, optimal, economic, effi cient and stimulating. During the time more and more attention is focused on didactic structure of a textbook since the appearance of working and active school the textbook is expected to be a working book. The appearance of pedagogic textbooks in Croatia is related to education of teachers. Training in methodology during the second half of the 18th century and the first half of the 19th century was taken from Methodenbuch by Felbiger, i.e. Croatian translations of shortened and changed versions of the same book. First printed books in pedagogy in Croatian language appeared in Budim in 1849. The overview starts with textbooks by Stjepan Basariček (the first part of pedagogy was issued in 1880) that were used for the longest period of time (they stopped in the 20s of the 20th century) and it ends with Pedagogy by M. Silov that was issued in 2003. The work represents the overview of total fourteen textbooks in pedagogy by our authors. In the most part it is about textbooks for higher and university education, which is seen in the use of didactic and methodological instruments. The structure and organization of teaching material is represented and the substantial overview is given. The overview of didactic and methodological instruments is given – how much and in which textbooks it appears in what form and how often.
