Abstract

The State Archives in Zagreb have materials archived that introduces us with the work of School for national (civil) defense on Ksaver Road in Zagreb. The school was established as an answer to the destructive consequences of the First WW. Its aim was to teach pupils all forms of defense from war activities and the consequences of war. We have to emphasize that it was a special school, taking into consideration its content and school activities. That was the main reason that Municipality of Zagreb covered its construction, equipping and further financing. The school held training courses for city population on air defense, combat gase, shelters and alike. The importance of the school is in the fact that it was the fi rst and the only institution of this kind in the region.
