Sažetak

This short essay is about the endeavours how to overcome difficulties in introducing a uniform primary schools into life of Croatia of the sixties of our century. The author himself was a participant and a witness of those events. He led the operation in the experimental Primary School at Jordanovac, Zagreb. The task was to find solutions to carry out the predetermined ideas. He also managed the Union of Primary Schools as Teachers' Association and took part in the work of groups concerned with the efficiency of the uniform conception of primary schools. The author disagrees with the traditional curriculum division into: class teaching and subject teaching. He also explains chronologically the development of primary school system in Croatia and at the same time he is explaining attempts to overcome difficulties of passing from the system of work with class teachers to the system of work with subject teachers. Using his own experience, the expert opinion of ten participants in education of the time, the available documents and sources, the author puts forward experience which is interesting just now when making our primary school a modern one is the task of the moment.
