Abstract

This paper presents an approach to adapting the existing track geometry to facilitate construction works on the M604 Oštarije – Knin – Split railway line, which is of international significance. At kilometer 272+631.63 of the mentioned railway line, the existing deteriorated arch culvert needs to be replaced with a new reinforced concrete road underpass. Given that this section is crucial for international traffic, railway operations must continue with minimal disruptions. Therefore, a temporary steel railway bridge must be installed at the location of the existing arch culvert to ensure uninterrupted rail traffic during the construction of the new reinforced concrete underpass. The existing track geometry at the site where the temporary structure is to be installed does not conform to the track geometry that can be accommodated within the temporary bridge. Consequently, it is necessary to define the work zone and adjust the track geometry to ensure a safe and continuous railway operation without service interruptions.
