Abstract
In this paper, the author presents the development and activities of the Computer Laboratory of the Department of History at the Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb (2002-2011). The idea for its establishment emerged in 2001 during the organizational preparations for the international conference Historical Research, Study of History and Computerization (December 10-12, 2001), which was held at the Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb.
The laboratory officially began its activities in January 2002 with the main task of applying information technologies in university history teaching and various scientific projects of the Department of History. Shortly thereafter, the “golden age” of its activities began. During the period between 2002 and 2008 Computer laboratory developed different activities (projects, web sites, teaching courses etc.). However, personnel and financial problems led to its gradual developmental stagnation after 2008. By 2011 operations of the Computer laboratory completely ceased.
