Abstract

The paper deals with the position of women in adult education from a historical and contemporary perspective. The purpose of the paper is to point out the challenges that women have faced and are facing through their participation in adult education. Historically marginalized, women are increasingly involved in various forms of adult education. The paper emphasizes that barriers are still present, but also that the number of initiatives aimed at facilitating access to education is growing. By presenting positive practices and examples of gender segregation in adult education, the need to further remove structural obstacles to women's participation in adult education is emphasized.
