Efficient Fertilization Strategies in Intensive Potato Production

Abstract
This paper presents four-year results of applying various fertilization strategies for potato cultivation on a family farm in the Slavonia region, under conditions of intensive production. Based on soil analysis, initial mineral fertilization was performed using a combination of 0-20-30 and 8-20-28 fertilizers, while during the growing season, nitrogen forms (urea, CAN, Nitrabor) and foliar products (Quantis, Zintrac, Kelatex B) were applied. Yield variations were primarily associated with rainfall distribution and irrigation efficiency, as the absence of precipitation during critical tuber development stages significantly affected fertilization efficiency and crop quality. The findings highlight the importance of precise adjustment of fertilization practices to both weather conditions and crop phenology, emphasizing the need for a systematic approach based on soil testing and visual crop monitoring.
