Sažetak
This study investigates how learners at the A2 language proficiency level acquire the German passive voice, focusing on students of German as a foreign language. The research aims to evaluate the effectiveness of YouTube educational videos as a supplementary tool in language instruction. Key aspects examined include the recognition of passive structures, differentiation between the process and the state passive, and the accurate transformation of active sentences into passive forms. The methodology involved a two-stage questionnaire administered to undergraduate students of German Studies. After completing the initial questionnaire, participants viewed an instructional YouTube video by Sonja Hubmann on the German passive. They then completed the same questionnaire again. The anonymized results from both sessions were compared to assess changes in performance. Findings suggest that audiovisual materials can significantly enhance grammatical competence in the area of the passive voice. Participants demonstrated notable improvements in identifying passive constructions, distinguishing between the process and the state passive,
and accurately converting active sentences into passive structures. These results highlight the potential of audiovisual media as an effective complement to traditional foreign language instruction.
