Sažetak
This paper explores and compares the capabilities of GPU passthrough on Hyper-V and KVM hypervisors to virtual machines, detailing the methods, procedures, and architectural differences that affect their implementation. A key challenge was ensuring testing was conducted on identical hardware, which provided reliable and comparable performance results across different operating systems. The goal of this paper is to offer a platform for testing the performance and compatibility of graphics cards with virtualized applications on different hypervisors. The aim was also to eliminate the need for specialized and expensive server systems and to enable the testing of graphics cards on commercially available hardware. As part of the practical section, system implementation steps were included, and the performance of the available graphics card was tested in all described scenarios. This created a practical environment on a single physical computer that allows for further research and replication. The results show that Hyper-V has a slight performance advantage, but KVM remains a viable option. From the results obtained using the methods presented in the paper, it is evident that users have various options when it comes to virtualized solutions that use graphics cards.
