Abstract

Technological advancements in the field of packaging have led to the development of solutions that combine aesthetic value with functional and security aspects of packaging. Infrared printing in packaging design represents an innovative solution that combines security, functionality and visual communication. By using INFRAREDESIGN® technology and the CMYKIR method, it is possible to simultaneously create visible and infrared graphic layers, giving the packaging a multilayered informational structure without compromising the product’s aesthetic identity. This approach enables the integration of hidden security elements, automated quality control and consumer interactivity through digital systems. The paper explores the technical and communicational potentials of infrared design in packaging, with a particular focus on transparent labels, variable raster elements, and algorithms for generating security graphics. Applications in industry, logistics and retail are analyzed, along with the possibilities of connecting packaging to advanced digital platforms such as databases, chatbot models, and IoT infrastructure. Infrared packaging design is considered a key component in the future development of the security, informational, and promotional functions of packaging.
