Sažetak

In this paper the author philologically interprets the first note on folio 1r of the codex from 1532 preserved in the Collection of Codices in the Archives of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts under signature II a 35. The codex contains the medieval work Obsidio Iadrensis, on folios 2r – 78v, a historiographical source for understanding the Venetian siege of Zadar in 1345-1346. The Latin nomenclature in the existing copies and editions of the Obsidio has been carried out. The work has revealed rich connections and relationships of the note with other parts of the text of the codex. The syntactic features of Classical and Medieval Latin, the traditions regarding the titling of works and naming of authors, as well as the position of the note before all other fragments and annotations in the codex were all taken into account. The comparison with the manuscript tradition is also strengthened by entries on library card no. 28 of the Pappafavas' Catalogue of manuscripts, found in the Research Library of Zadar (Manoscritti nella Biblioteca Pappafava, Schede dei Manoscritti). A philological analysis of the lectiones in the Codex Iadertinus as the main manuscript, as well as of their appearance in Lučić’s works, has demonstrated that the Codex Iadertinus was the basis of Lučić’s edition. The illuminated internal connections and juridical syntagms in Obsidio indicate a strong connection with the ancient literary tradition. The question has arisen of the reliability and time of origin of the de Chrysogonis correction in Fumatis. The Fumatis inscription has been criticized, and an analysis of the manuscript has shown that the Fumatis correction was made by a separate hand that is not found anywhere in the codex, thus strengthening the assumption that the original de Chrysogono inscription preserves firsthand memory. The paper opens the way to new and different reflections on the author of the original work and the 1532 transcript, who might not necessarily belong to priesthood, as was previously believed, but to prominent legal scholars from the Grisogono family.
