In Memory of Miljenko Domijan

Abstract
Conservator Miljenko Domijan (1946-2025) recently passed away in Zadar. He was born in Rab and spent a large part of his life in Zadar, where he graduated in 1972 from the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. He then took a position at the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments. In 1977, he became director of that institution and subsequently managed the heritage protection service in the Zadar region for two decades. He distinguished himself as a good colleague to his office staff and maintained fruitful professional relations with representatives of various professional institutions, as well as political and ecclesiastical authorities. He was an excellent organizer of monument protection, for which he was acknowledged by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia and appointed Head Conservator. He moved to Zagreb for both professional and personal reasons. In his new role, particularly important were his efforts invested in organizing the repair and restoration of war-damaged and destroyed monuments in Dalmatia and Slavonia. He collaborated very well with international experts in the field of heritage preservation and restoration. In addition to his work as a conservator, he occasionally engaged in museum and pedagogical work, and published scholarly and professional papers. He made an important contribution to the cultural public through exhibitions of his documentary and artistic photographs. For his work, he received numerous domestic and international recognitions.
