Sažetak

This paper presents a preliminary analysis of the Early Medieval cemetery at Vaćani – Grlo. The first excavation at this site – a rescue excavation – was conducted by the Šibenik City Museum at the beginning of the century, investigating four graves. At the end of 2024, the Institute of Archaeology, in collaboration with the Šibenik City Museum, carried out limited excavations that revealed 18 graves. Arranged in four rows, the graves are oriented west-east. The distribution of the graves suggests that the cemetery extends toward the southeast. The majority of the excavated burials belong to very young children, with one belonging to an individual aged 16–18, and four to older women. Notably, there is an absence of male burials in this section of the cemetery. Grave goods, consisting primarily of simple jewellery, were recovered from nine graves. Radiocarbon dating places these burials in the 11th and the first half of the 12th century.
