Sažetak
The article follows the entry on Vitomir Belaj in the New Slovenian Biographical Lexicon: “A researcher of the history of Croatian ethnology and folk piety, with a particular focus on Slavic beliefs and rituals, and their connections with the mythical beliefs of the ancient Slavs. He conducted research in north-east Slovenia describing the connections between Slovenian and Croatian ethnology. In Ljubljana, he lectured on Slavic and comparative mythology and the ethnology of Slavic peoples”. The first part of the article briefly outlines the connections that Belaj forged between Croatian and Slovenian ethnology. The second part concerns his view of ethnology as an academic discipline and the history of ethnology in Croatia.
