Sažetak
This paper explores the historical development of music-pedagogical literature in Croatia, with a particular focus on materials related to music education in general primary schools, from the 19th century until the independence of Croatia. It analyzes key authors, works, and methodological approaches that have shaped music education within this specific educational context, under varying historical, social, and political circumstances. Special attention is given to the continuity and changes in music-pedagogical literature, highlighting its role in preserving cultural identity, promoting social values, and adapting to the educational needs of the primary school system. The paper further evaluates how historical approaches and materials can inform contemporary pedagogical practices in primary schools, emphasizing the enduring relevance of this literature for modern music education. The conclusion summarizes the key insights and points to potential directions for further research, such as the development of music pedagogy in digital and intercultural contexts.
