Sažetak
Five years ago, the 16th Ordinary Synod of Bishops commenced under the theme Towards a Synodal Church: Communion, Participation, Mission. This Synod is conducted pursuant to the revised statute in three phases, each with its own thematic, working, methodological, and other specificities. The scope of the paper is confined to an overview of the second session of the Synodal Assembly, its final document, and the beginning of the implementation phase. The author firstly provides introductory information on the progress of preparations for the relevant phase of the Synodal Assembly, with particular reference to ten selected issues and several working meetings of the Synod members. The paper continues with an outline of the spiritual preparation for the Synodal meeting, providing insight into the working methods, with a subsequent discussion on the selection of the participants. The author then examines the adoption of the Final Document and the Pope’s Note, as the formal acceptance and acknowledgment of the Synod’s conclusions. Lastly, the paper addresses the ongoing phase of monitoring the implementation of the Synodal Document in local Churches, the echoes of the Synodal process in Croatia, and selected proposals and requests for the realization of synodality among the people of God. Following the passing of Pope Francis, his successor, Leo XIV, has confirmed the guidelines for the implementation of the Synod initiated by his predecessor.
