Abstract

The article explores the pastoral care of individuals with mental health disorders, i.e. depression, anxiety, and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), emphasizing the need for spiritual direction a-longside medical intervention. It highlights that mental disorders affect a significant portion of the population and are often untreated. Depression, anxiety, and OCD are outlined with clinical features, prevalence, and treatment approaches. Two case studies illustrate the importance of compassionate pastoral care tailored to individual needs, highlighting the integration of spiritual and psychological support. The role of spirituality in improving mental health outcomes and reducing stigma is emphasized, and a combined therapeutic approach is advocated, involving pharmacotherapy, psychotherapy, and spiritual direction based on sound doctrine.
