Poetics of narration of epic poet Avdo Međedović

Sažetak
This thesis will present some texts which consist of recorded conversations with an epic poet Avdo Međedović. I will view them from two compatible aspects: generally, from the aspect of an oral saying in the form of an interview and the aspect of autopoetics statements from which we derive the necessary information and we map one general poetics of Međedovic’s narration in verse. In search of attempts to reconstruct Homer’s composition technique, his two famous epic poems - Iliad and Odyssey - the road brought Parrya to Bijelo Polje (Sandzak), where he met the epic singer Avdo Mededović, who will later represent the most prominent example of the Bosniak national tradition. Thanks to the material that, firstly, Parry, and then Lord and other researchers gathered mainly from Bosniak epic singers in Sandzak today at Harvard University there is The Milman Parry Collection, or Parry’s collection, in which numerous texts are preserved, which today are invaluable for exploring this kind of traditional heritage. The overall material is in The Milman Parry Collection, and it is saved in two basic collections: Milman Parry Songs and Albert B. Lord Songs. Those texts by its poetic features have enormous value since they describe Avdo Međedović’s personality in more detail, his life story, as well as detailed explanation about the form of poems and the way of performing chosen poems, which can be looked at as a contribution to the understanding of the author’s poetics. Also, the emphasis is put on his poems from a linguistic aspect - meanings to many Turkish loanwords and less known words are given. I will single out the basic poetic features: what is important for an epic poet when it comes to an epic poem, an epic hero, an epic event, a way of „ornamenting“ the song itself (a technique of forming the song). The conversations about the life of Avdo Međedović will be analyzed in detail in order to establish the biography of this poet.
