Sažetak
This paper will present the most common formation patterns among the younger population of speakers of contemporary Split speech. The research used conversational analysis methods and conducted an interview to examine formation patterns and their meanings, as well as the emphatic value of neologisms and the means of formation. The aim of the research is to observe how the younger generations participate in the creation of the contemporary Split lexicon, adapting it to urban and informal communication that today takes place orally and via social networks. Such channels necessarily require economy and creativity that the written form has not cultivated so far, and it is expected that formation processes will be more focused on merging and cutting, as well as elements of linguistic borrowing. The research confirmed that formation processes such as suffixation dominate in contemporary Split speech, but perhaps even more so examples of shortening.
