Abstract
The paper presents an example of a multiannual school project aimed at promoting the truth and values of the Homeland War and the struggle for freedom and independence of the Republic of Croatia. The project is based on the cooperation with veterans' associations, the valuable sources of information. Students involved in the project also follow the activities of the associations, contributing to the promotion of their activities, such as the opening of the Homeland War Memorial Center in Ivanec, where they play an active role as student guides. Learning is conducted through research and experiential methods. In addition to learning about the Homeland War, students have also acquired knowledge in the fields of museology and journalism.
