Sažetak
This paper explores the modes and instruments through which the Catholic Church, throughout history, has conveyed the good news of the incarnate Word of God and communicated its doctrine. The very fact that this concerns a message and the Word itself indicates the necessity of communicating them in a form that is close to the contemporary human being of every historical period. The first part addresses the mode of activity of Jesus and his disciples, the second focuses on the medieval period, the third examines the time from the Enlightenment to the modern era, and the final part is devoted to the Second Vatican Council and the post-conciliar decades. The analysis focuses primarily on biblical accounts and the teaching authority of the Church in order to clarify the ambivalent nature of the relationship between the world of the media and the Church, both as an institution and in relation to its members. While recognising the importance of modern means of communication and their social influence as opportunities for the promotion of its teaching, the Church at the same time approaches them with a degree of caution, recognising in them a possible source of new social values.
