Abstract

Some authors wrote about Ignatius Szentmártony, a Jesuit from Međimurje, a missionary,
a mathematician, an astronomer, a surveyor and a cartographer, mainly about
his life path and a few about his work and opus. The book by C. F. Moura: Astronomia
na Amazônia no século XVIII gives the most comprehensive and accurate presentation
of his work. It describes his research in Brazil in detail and publishes the results
of his measurements. Based on these activities, maps were made. This paper presents
one of them – a map called Mappa viceprovinciae Societatis Iesu Maragnonii anno
MDCCLIII concinnata.
