Sažetak
With the construction of storage lakes for the needs of hydroelectric power plants
HE Čakovec and HE Dubrava, the river Drava in the area of Međimurje takes on a
new hydrological regime. Changes in all living conditions, abiotic and biotic, have been
caused on the Drava River, and the negative impact on the environment and humans has
increased. The paper presents some methods of work and research on the storage lakes
of the Drava River in Međimurje during the reference years 1999 and 2003. Based on a
complex study of macrozoobenthos, which includes seasonal monitoring of the overall
state of biocenosis and water quality, the aim of the study was to determine trophic characteristics
and water quality by monitoring the quantitative and qualitative composition
of macrozoobenthos population using Pantle-Buck saprobity index (S). The area of
storage lakes, surface waters in the Drava River after the construction of a linear system
of hydropower plants, today enters the area of biosphere reserves, regional parks, natural
monuments, significant landscapes, park-forests and monuments of park architecture.
In 2021, the area officially became part of a Five-state biosphere reserve.
