Thirty Years of the Journal Technical Gazette: Bibliometric Characteristics of Categorized Papers

Abstract
Aim. This paper presents a bibliometric analysis of the journal Technical Gazette, which has been published continuously since 1994. Thirty years of publication (1994–2024)
were analyzed, with a focus on the journal’s presence in the Web of Science (WoS) and Scopus databases, as well as on the Croatian portal of professional and scientific journals Hrčak. The aim of the analysis was to quantitatively present the journal’s scientific productivity, citation, and international representation, and to provide insight into the journal’s development trends.
Approach. Data were collected from the WoS, Scopus, and Hrčak databases, as well as from printed editions of the journal, to ensure a more comprehensive overview. The analysis included the number and types of papers, language structure, number of pages, and visibility metrics such as article views and downloads on Hrčak.
Results. The results indicate a steady growth in scientific productivity and an increasing internationalization of the journal, especially after its inclusion in international databases. A positive shift is also evident in the language of publication - from Croatian, through bilingual editions, to English - which has resulted in higher citation rates and greater global recognition.
Limitations. The analysis covers papers available on the Hrčak portal and in the Scopus and WoS databases, noting that certain papers from the period 1994–2006 were excluded because they were not indexed in the analyzed sources.
Originality and value. This is the first bibliometric analysis of Technical Gazette. The obtained results may serve the editorial board as a foundation for strategic planning of the journal’s further development, with a particular focus on increasing scientific impact, visibility, and the quality of published papers, as well as for future analyses. The analysis also provides a clear insight into the journal’s position within the technical field, thereby facilitating the selection of the journal by the broader scientific community for publishing research results.
