Sažetak
Purpose. The aim of the paper is to present and analyze the development, content and significance of the e-journal Kontekst of the Varaždin County Library Association as a platform for professional networking, knowledge exchange and promotion of the library profession at the regional and national levels. Kontekst is aimed at encouraging cooperation among librarians and enabling public access to professional papers with the aim of better knowledge and understanding of the library profession as a whole.
Approach. The topic is approached through a combination of descriptive content analysis of published issues of the journal and evaluation of its impact on the professional community. Emphasis is placed on digital accessibility, collaborative character and editorial standards.
Methodology. The methods used were qualitative content analysis, a review of the journal's web interface, and an analysis of documentation that includes minutes from the meetings of the Management Board, minutes of Kontekst Editorial Board meetings, instructions for authors, editorial policies, and interviews with members of the editorial board and authors of published papers.
Results. The results show that Kontekst successfully fulfills the role of a professional e-journal that allows free web access, encourages professional collaboration of librarians and provides transparent instructions for authors. The publication contributes to the development of the regional library community and increases the visibility of the programs and activities of librarians in Varaždin County and beyond.
Application. The research findings can serve as a model for the development of similar professional e-journals in other counties and as an incentive for library societies to improve digital communication tools and open access to knowledge.
Social significance. Kontekst strengthens the professional identity of librarians, promotes a culture of knowledge sharing and contributes to the development of the information society through digital publishing and networking of experts.
Originality/value. The paper provides the first systematic analysis of the e-journal Kontekst, highlighting its value in promoting librarianship and the profession at the regional level. In addition, it contributes to understanding the importance of local professional publications in the broader context of library practice.
