Abstract

Aim. The paper presents the process of forming the physical and virtual Collection of Burgenland Croatian Written Heritage of the Library of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts, with the aim of contributing to the current knowledge of its special library collections and the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage of minority communities.
Approach. This paper describes the process of receiving and processing donated library materials that formed the basis of today’s Burgenland Croatian Written Heritage Collection. It presents the diversity of the collection’s contents, which testify to the social, cultural, and religious life of the Burgenland Croats, with a particular focus on the cooperation between the Academy Library and the Burgenland Croatian community.
Results. The virtual visibility and physical accessibility of the Collection of Burgenland Croatian Written Heritage, especially for Croatists and Croatologists, will enable linguist ic,
cultural and historical research important not only for understanding the Croatian largest minority group, but also for the entire history of Croats.
Originality. The collection of Burgenland Croatian written heritage is the first established Burgenland Croatian library collection in Croatia. It has been processed in accordance
with contemporary cataloguing standards, and its bibliographic items have been catalogued and made available in the online catalogue of the Library of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts and then consolidated in a virtual library collection in the Digital Collection of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts.
