Sažetak

The aim of this article is to explore and describe psychodrama as a clinically confirmed psychotherapeutic method that can be used while working with children and adolescents, which remains underrepresented in the literature. The paper highlights the specific features of psychodrama and its place within child and adolescent psychotherapy in Croatia. It also gives a brief historical overview of psychodrama and its two main branches – Moreno’s classical psychodrama and analytical psychodrama. Psychodrama, as a therapeutic method founded by Jacob Levy Moreno, relies on spontaneity, creativity, and the exploration of internal processes through action and interaction. Analytical psychodrama places greater focus on transference, unconscious processes, personality structure and the analysis of internal conflicts. Although these approaches differ in their theoretical foundations and technical aspects, both are valuable options for treatment and exploring emotional experiences, as well as for promoting cognitive and behavioral change. The research supports the positive effects of psychodrama on emotional regulation, interpersonal relationships, and self-confidence. As with the study of any psychotherapeutic method, there remains a need for further research to more precisely define the mechanisms of its action.
