Sažetak
Aim: The aim of this study was to examine the association between surgical characteristics, sociodemographic factors, some lifestyle habits, and the severity of voice disorders measured by perceptual, GRBAS parameters, at different postoperative time points. Participans and Methods: The study included 249 adult participants who developed voice disorders after thyroidectomy without neurological damage. Perceptual voice assessment was conducted preoperatively, and at 7–10 days, 3 months, and 6 months after surgery. Differences in individual voice parameters were analyzed using t-tests and one-way analysis of variance, while the contribution of the examined factors to overall voice quality was assessed using multivariate analysis of variance. Results: The results showed pronounced postoperative changes across all GRBAS parameters, with gradual recovery observed over a six-month period. Longer surgical duration emerged as the most significant factor associated with more severe and persistent voice disorders, as demonstrated by both univariate and multivariate analyses. Elevated body mass index and type of surgery showed selective effects on individual perceptual voice parameters. Conclusions: These findings highlight the importance of early speech-language pathology follow-up and the identification of risk factors for prolonged voice disorders following thyroidectomy.
