Abstract

The theatrical life of Požega has been recorded since as early as 1715, when the first
performance was staged by students of the Požega grammar school. Theatre practitioners
from Požega have always shown a tendency to revive the rich cultural heritage from oblivion through their repertoire, and they have a long tradition of staging texts by writers from Požega. This paper explores, from history to the present day, theatrical performances in which the people of Požega have staged dramatized texts by local authors Antun Kanižlić, Josip Eugen Tomić, and Vilim Korajac.
