The paper presents collaborative projects between heritage institutions—libraries, archives, and museums—and examines the complex relationship between the global and the local in contemporary society. It emphasizes the role of libraries in preserving local cultural identity within the global information space. Examples of international, national, and local cooperation within the ALM (archives, libraries, and museums)
community are presented, confi rming that inter-institutional collaboration contributes to more effi cient use of resources, greater accessibility of materials, and the strengthening of social cohesion. The local collaborative project The First Buildings of Bjelovar: An Information Guide is highlighted as an example of good practice in connecting libraries, archives, and museums within the local community. The guide is viewed as an interpretative tool that transcends factual information delivery and encourages the development of heritage literacy, a sense of belonging, and responsibility toward cultural heritage, particularly among children and young people.
