Sažetak

This paper presents the development of the school librarian’s professional identity through selected examples of school library practice. School library activities are examined as a contemporary approach to interpreting cultural heritage and incorporating concepts from creative industry into educational work. This research highlights the role of the school librarian in organising heritage-related activities, creating educational content, participating in creative industry competition, and conducting creative projects. The study demonstrates how the
school librarian develops organisational, communication, media, and digital competencies through research, collaborative and creative work. Consequently, the librarian becomes a cultural and information mediator between the school, students, and the local community. Students thereby develop information and media literacy, research skills, creative expression, and awareness of the cultural heritage preservation. The school library establishes itself as a space of learning, research and cultural creativity, bridging tradition with contemporary education.
